Night Vision System Gives Sportfishermen the Edge.
11/04/2005

For avid sportfishermen, time spent running to the next hot spot is valuable. The 1018i camera from Night Vision Technologies (NVTi) allows sportfishers to use thermal imaging to see currents in the water. Because the camera can be used in total darkness, fisherman can run from spot to spot at night, saving them valuable daylight hours. No longer do they have to wait until the light of day to travel to a location with the next big catch.
By mounting NVTi's 1018i to their vessels, sportfishermen are able to use the state-of-the-art technology as more than just a safety and security device. Gamefish are attracted to nutrient-rich water currents by the baitfish that are present due to plankton growth. Used in any light conditions, the infrared camera detects the heat transmitted from the currents. The thermal differences are used to create a picture, that shows "hot" objects as bright and "cool" ones as dark.
The 1018i's aluminum pan and tilt housing provides the maximum field of view and can be operated and monitored in a location protected from the open environment. It uses a 25 mm lens to capture the images.
